Hi everyone,
I was thinking about something. And I wondered how you guys are thinking about this.
Do you believe Pillar pain is a real thing on it's own or is it a problem with the pressure neurofibers / maybe misdiagnosed allodynia?
And do you think we can still do something about it? (I believe we can)
Have a good weekend.
Kind regards,
Ellen Claessens

Hi Ellen,
It's very interesting!!... Did you start a treatment? Did you find tactile allodynia in your patient with Pillar pain diagnosis? Or do you think maybe it could be dynamic allodynia (Aalpha fibers lesion?) in some cases?...
I would like to hear about what you found!
Thank you and have a nice day!

Hi Mélanie,
Yes I did find a static mechanical allodynia, Rainbow pain scale was green. And started with SSR because desensibilisation was to painfull.
Besides this case I believe people are misdiagnosed a lot.
Have a nice day!
Ellen
Hi Ellen,
Interesting!!
I believe pillar pain - post surgical incision pain, can be related to the post surgical scar pain I presume for any other surgical incisions.
If some more information can be shared it would be good:
1. Was the complaint of pain came immediately or a bit later? (scar on healing phase or completely healed)
2. Was it accompanied by an wound infection? (during the healing process)
3. The mapping area was specific to one part of the incision or the whole area around the incision?
I have also seen a similar post-surgical scar related mechanical allodynia, but also interestingly accompanied by hypoaesthesia too.
Good job with your treatment.
